For our first trip we chose Llanberis, a small town in the shadow of Snowdon. Gillian’s brother Geoff and his wife Jane, who are experienced caravanners, joined us at the very well equipped Morris Leisure Touring Park. We booked the site and the weather in advance, and both were perfect.

There is so much to learn on a first trip. How to heat the van, fill the tank with water, get the TV retuned, the electric connected, park near the little white peg, etc.

The weather was so good that we got out and walked along some of the Welsh Coastal Path, a complete circuit of Lyn Padarn, and an ascent of Snowdon via the Llanberis path.

The Llanberis Path is the dullest and least exciting route up this popular mountain, but we could walk right from the camp site, and on a frosty Friday it wasn’t busy. The views were stunning, and we even got to see one of the mountain railway trains as the engineers worked to maintain the track.

A perfect short trip away to learn how to use Herdy. Need to buy a connector for the hose and an insulated screen to stop the condensation inside the cab.
